Whether surface defects become visible depends largely on the right lighting. Shiny metal, matte plastic, painted sheet metal, glazed ceramics and textured fabric each require different lighting angles and camera settings.
Before installation, tests are carried out on the product surface to determine the right camera, lens and lighting setup. The AI model learns the product’s normal surface structure from images captured with this setup and marks deviations.
For color and pattern inspection, the product is compared with an approved reference. Color shade differences, pattern shifts and print integrity can be evaluated at the same station.
